The Eclectic Maximalist design is just what its name means: more of everything! It’s defined by bright colours, tons of fun textures, and just so much art!

Photos generated using this style are busy but in the best possible way! It’s cool to see all the little trinkets and bobbles Midjourney generates in the background. Some of the artwork can be pretty breathtaking!

Bohemian, or boho for short, is a pretty popular style right now. It channels a free-spirited perspective on life and tends to draw inspiration across cultures and styles. It puts a particular emphasis on organic life, often featuring leafy green plants and macrame planters.

The Modern Farmhouse style is very clean-cut with white walls and some small wooden farm-ish accents. This gives the space a quaint, country-side feel without feeling like it’s from the Little House on a Prairie era.

Neoclassical design draws inspiration from the Baroque period’s elegance and opulence but modernizes it with soft cream colours. The style has a very wealthy feel to it, and Midjourney often generates people who look like they come from a higher economic class.

As the name suggests, minimalistic design is the practice of only using the bare essentials to decorate a space.

Midjourney tends to lean toward a more geometric design where minimalism is used. I also find that the AI is much more likely to generate families of Asian descent when this word is used.

Neo Industrial design celebrates the beauty of raw materials. It often uses exposed brick, concrete, steel, and wood and design features rather than just building materials that need to be covered up.

Tuscan decor is made up of rustic, crumbling stone and sun-baked atriums. It has vintage wooden highlights and terra-cotta colouring.

Mediterranean-styled interior decor is defined by white textured walls, bright textiles and tile work. This style often features an aqua blue as a reminder of the closeness of the sea.

Most of the photos generated using this keyword look era-appropriate—or at least our best guess at what is era-appropriate—except for the one of the woman reading a book. This photo looks more like she’s a modern archeologist.

This keyword is similar to Ancient Egypt; it generates photos that show our best guess at what an average day looked like for an Ancient Roman.

Since it has stylistic meanings in both the past and present, Gothic is an interesting keyword. Some images look like they are from medieval times, while others look like they could have been taken in the last decade.

The keyword, Baroque, makes all images look like they’ve jumped off the page of a fairytale… except for the kitchen photo. For the life of me, I could not get Midjourney to generate a baroque photo of a couple in the kitchen. Best I could do is generate one where the lady’s coat had some Baroque embellishments.

Similar to Gothic, Art Deco has a modern stylistic meaning as well as a past one. This can make the generations unpredictable.

Sometimes they come out looking like they are from the 1920s like the father and daughter photo, but other times they come out more modern and geometrical like the one of the woman.

This is a pretty general keyword, but it is very effective. Midjourney is aware what modern style trends are, and is effective and using them when this keyword is used.

This keyword not only adds floral patterns to the interior decor, but it adds it to people’s clothes, their books, and any items they can. It even adds live flowers sometimes!

This creates fun and colourful images.

Adding marble always makes for some clean and classy decor.

Adding the wood keyword adds warmth to the generated photos, as it does in a warm log cabin.

The stone keyword usually simply adds a masonry stone feature wall to the photos.

Terra Cotta can effect Midjourney in two ways: it will generate photos with terra cotta, the material, or it will incorporate the burnt orange terra cotta color.
