What is Midjourney Personalization?
Midjourney Personalization, or the –p parameter, allows you to train your own mini Midjourney models by ranking image pairs, liking pictures in the Explore tab, or by uploading images to a moodboard.
Essentially, you can train a model that learns and understands a specific style and will generate photos based on that understanding.
What are Personalized Profiles?
As of December 16th, you can now create multiple Personalized style groups. Each style is called a Profile. You can create a profile by ranking images, or by uploading photos to a moodboard.
How to Train a Personalized Model by Ranking Images?
(How to Create a New Standard Profile)
Simply log into Midjourney’s website, click on the Personalize menu item.
Next, click on the “Create Standard Profile” button.
Here you will be greeted with two large images, as well as a skip and undo button. Ultimately, you will be asked to click which image you like better.
Now be careful here, you don’t want to fall into the same trap I did.
Make sure you only select a photo if it matches the style you are trying to generate.
Otherwise, you’ll flood your model with images you don’t like.
Be generous with the skip button.
Remember, you’ll need to rank at least 40 images before the model can be used. You can track how many you’ve ranked using the progress bar above the images.
How Many Images Should I Rank?
You’ll need to have ranked/liked a minimum of 40 images in a new Standard Profile in order to use this feature.
This makes sense, as Midjourney will need a decent amount of context into the style you are trying to generate.
The image will be stable and more consistent around 200, and 2,000 images ranked will make your model near perfect.
On the other hand, you only technically need to upload 1 image if you’re using the mood board, but your model will only get better the more images you upload.
How to Check How Many Images You Have Ranked?
The number of images ranked for a specific style profile can be seen in the middle of the profile tiles on the Personalize Page on Midjourney.

How to use Midjourney Personalization in Discord?
There are two different ways you can use your own Personalized Midjourney model: through the parameter or through your settings.
How to use the —p Parameter?
You can use –p on its own to toggle your default model “on” for a single prompt.
Midjourney will automatically generate the code for the most recent version of your default profile beside –p once you submit a prompt. This is your own personal style code that you can share with others but more on the later.
If you’d like to use one of your other style profiles, go to the Personalize Page on Midjourney’s website, hover over the profile you’d like to use, then click the “copy code” button that appears over the images.
This will give you the pID for your most recent version of that style profile. Paste this in as an argument for the –p parameter. When entered into Discord, this will be shortened a different code.
How to Turn On Personalization Through your Discord Settings?
Alternatively, you can open your settings by typing the command /settings in Discord, and then pressing the “Personalization” button.
How to Use Midjourney Personalization on the Website?
Or you can select your specific style profile from the dropdown beside the Personalize buttons.
Alternatively, You can also turn Personalization on by clicking the large toggle button the Personalization Page. 🤷♀️
How to Test What My Personal Style is Right Now?
If you want to test what your style looks like without a prompt to influence it, simply type “” –p [pCode] in the prompt area. This will generate a photo in your new style that is completely unbiased by anything.
Can you Have More than One Personalization Model?
Yes! As of December 16th, you can now make multiple Personalization models.
I’m a web designer by day for my company, Fulton St. Digital, so I’m ecstatic about this new update! Now I can quickly and easily train a model on my client’s brand using the new Mood Board feature, and then consistently generate images specific to them and their style.
I can’t find any limit to how many profiles you can create at this moment, but if you know, please reach out!

What if I Already Ranked A Bunch of Images Not in my Style?
How to Change Your Default Style Profile?
You can select multiple profiles to use as default, and then Midjourney will blend the two styles together.
How to Change the Name of a Personalized Profile?
Just hover over the name of the profile until you see a pencil icon.
Click this and then edit the name as you like
How to Delete Old Personalized Profiles?
Need to make room for new profiles? Simply hover over the profile you’d like to delete, then click on the garbage can icon.
Can You Still Use Style Profiles After You Delete Them?
Yes you can! The style codes themselves have not been deleted. You just can’t update that style profile anymore.
How do you Keep your Style the Same?
It seems silly, but just stop ranking images. 🤷♀️
Can You Reset Your Personalization?
No, but if you rank more the style will inevitably change.
Can You Use “Likes” to Train the Model?
Yes you can! But this will only effect your Default Profile. There’s no way to apply those likes to a specific profile at this time.
How to Control the Weight of Your Personalized Style?
Since —p has a similar technical foundation as —style raw, and —stylize, all three of these parameters work well together.
—stylize and —p
You can use —stylize to adjust the intensity of your personalized style. The default —stylize value is 100, so you can adjust your style’s intensity as low as 0 or as high as 1000.
–stylize 0
–stylize 1000
—style raw and —p
Using —style raw on the other hand, blends your personal style with —style raw’s usual look.
–style raw –p
–style raw
What is the Code Generated After the —p Parameter?
It’s your own personalized style code!
This is especially cool because you can share your style with others and then they can generate images based on your model!

How to View All Your Personalized Style Codes?
Midjourney created a discord command for just such an occasion. Simply type /list_personalize_codes in your Discord chat and you’ll see all your style codes listed.
Only issue is that it does not list which code goes with which Personalized Profile. You’ll need to work out which is which based on the date the new code was created (i.e. which date did you last update each particular model).
Does Midjoureny Personalization work with Niji?
Yes, but the Niji Personalized styles are separate from your regular Personalized styles.
Why is Midjourney’s Personalization Not Working?
It’s likely that you haven’t ranked enough images yet. Remember, you need to rank at least 40 for the model to work. You’ll need at lease 200 images ranked for the style to be consistent though.
