Full Breakdown – Adobe Firefly’s Commercial Release

Let’s just get straight to the point!

Firefly apps and all the Creative Cloud AI features are now out of beta.

As of September 13th, 2023, anything created using Adobe’s Released AI features can now be used commercially.

This means that you can legally use Adobe’s Generative AI in designs for your clients or even your own business.

How to Get Access To Adobe’s New Commercial AI Features

If you already have a subscription with Adobe, simply just update any of the apps that have generative AI features, and viola! The generative features will have been added to your applications. No need for separate Beta apps.

If you are not seeing updates for Photoshop or Illustrator, you may need to update your Creative Cloud.

Alternatively, you can use your Adobe ID to log in to Firefly’s online portal.

How it Works

As of September 13th, everyone with an Adobe Account is given monthly credits based on what Adobe plan you are on.

Credits reset at the end of each month, and unused credits do not carry over.

Don’t worry if you run out of credits, you can keep using Firefly after you are out of credits, your jobs will just take longer to render since credits are based on generative time.

However, if would like more of that sweet sweet fast generative time after you’ve run out of credits, you can buy 100 credit packages for $4.99.

This is actually pretty competitive pricing compared to Midjourney and Dall-e prices.

What are Credits?

Due to computational strain, Adobe’s made using Firefly a credit-based system.

Credits allow you access to “fast” time on its servers that will—you guessed it—generate your images faster.

How many credits an action costs depends on how much computation time the action uses.

Confused yet?

I was too, lol.

All you really need to know is that as of right now, every time you submit a prompt it will cost you 1 credit*.

So every new image generated, every new color palette, and every image extended will remove a credit from your account.

*using Firefly’s text effect is free right now, but will cost 1 credit after Nov 1st.

This may change in the future.

Adobe indicated that it’s focusing its next efforts on adding AI to video and 3D modeling, which will require more computational time and therefore may cost extra credits.

How Many Credits Do I Get?

Everyone–even people who haven’t purchased an Adobe Subscription–can get access to monthly credits.

What AI Apps Did Adobe Release?

New Beta Firefly Features Accnounced

After announcing the release of all their previous AI applications, Adobe also announced the beta release of a couple of new Firefly AI features.

Committing itself to bringing Generative AI to 3D modeling, animation, and video, Adobe released the following new beta features:

• Text-based Editing
• Enhance Speech
• 3d Workspace

I haven’t tested any of them out myself, but they sound like real timesavers!
